These kids live in a village that sits hard up against the separation wall between Israel and Palestine. Every once in a while you can hear the pop-pop of soldiers’ practice gunfire a few hundred meters from one of the possible playground sites we are here to look at. I am here with Hanan Urick of Playgrounds for Palestine, an aptly named American NG -, because that’s just what they do – to prepare for the design and construction of play places for these and other kids throughout the West Bank. This is their first time collaborating with Tomorrow’s Youth, an NGO which is dedicated to improving the lives of children through education, recreation and cultural programs based in its grand new facility situated on one of the valley walls overlooking Nablus.
I’ll be sending more about my experiences for the next few weeks. I’m new to the blogging world so bear with me as I learn.
